What's it going to take to win in 2021 and beyond:
Way back in the summer of 2019, I wrote for this group an article "What It's Going to Take to Win 2020". I thought it might be useful to look back and see what worked and didn't work based on 2020 election results as a way to look ahead.

BOOK OF THE MONTH SELECTION IS..
CASTE and the Origins of Our Discontent by Isabel Wilkerson
What do you remember from your high school government classes? Did you discuss impeachment and its ramifications for our country? The year 2021 will be remembered for an event that has occurred only four times now in over two hundred years of our democracy. In this case, an impeachment trial will be held for a president who had been impeached previously. Alexander Hamilton in the Federalist, no.65 wrote, "Impeachment is designed as a method of national inquest into the conduct of public men." Decided by the Senate, the result of this serious, but seldom used remedy, will always be a a part of nations's history.

REPUBLICANS METHOD OF TAXATION
BECOME A JUDGE OF ELECTIONS
"Wolf seeks tax hike on PA's earners" (2/4, Trib.) illustrates an often repeated phrase: "Republicans know how to message, how to campaign, and Democrats know how to govern." The comments by our Republican lawmakers were all standard sound bites: "raising taxes and spending more, massive 50% tax increase, "tax hikes will hurt our economy," etc. But if you read the article, only the top third income group will see increased taxes, shift the tax burden to higher income earners by exemptions that would reduce the tax rate among about 40% of taxpayers. In other words, this budget, in a small way would decrease the massive economic inequality we have in our state. Currently, the top 1% of PA. taxpayers pay the lowest percent rate, 6%, while the lowest 20% of PA taxpayers pay the highest 13.8% rate, in local and state taxes. You would think people would be in favor of everyone paying their fair share of taxes. But Republicans seem to want to tax the poor and middle class, but not the wealthy.
Make a difference in the Electoral process and ensure that every vote counts by being a judge of elections!
