America Had No Kings

Donald Trump has treated the presidency less as a constitutional office and more as a monarchy. The actions of this would-be king include:

·       Openly disregarding the rule of law

·       Obstructing justice

·       Undermining judicial independence

·       Disrupting trade relationships across the globe

·       Using the Department of Justice as a political instrument, rather than as a guardian of impartial justice

Nearly 250 years ago, similar grievances were leveled against King George III in the Declaration of Independence. Those charges did not come from radicals or partisan operatives; they came from the founding document that declared America’s break from tyranny and its commitment to self-government.

Yet today, many Americans fear we are once again at the mercy of a leader driven more by personal ambition than by constitutional duty—one whose vision of America prioritizes power over principle and loyalty over liberty.

For generations, the United States has rejected monarchy in favor of a system grounded in checks and balances, the rule of law, and equal justice. Patriotism demands more than rhetoric or symbolic gestures; it requires the courage to defend those principles when they are tested.

America was founded on a simple but enduring idea: we have no kings.
