We are only 45 days into the conflict in Iran, yet the mounting toll of President Trump’s "forever war" is already staggering. What was pitched as a swift action has spiraled out of control that has already cost 13 American lives and more than 300 casualties.
With the initial phase of already crossing the $50 billion mark, the administration is now demanding an immediate $200 billion infusion. Trump is also demanding a 50% increase to the Pentagon’s existing trillion-dollar budget—an additional $500 billion for next year.
This brings the total price tag of Trump’s "little excursion" to a jaw-dropping $750 billion.
It is time for a reality check. Conservative Republicans and the MAGA faithful can no longer claim the cupboard is bare for our most vulnerable citizens while handing out three-quarters of a trillion dollars, bowing to Trump’s deranged world view.
We are trading our future and our soldiers' lives for a conflict with no end in sight. The "Forever War" has found its new chapter, and the cost is simply too high.
