The World’s Richest Man Wants America’s Poorest Children to Starve

At a time when inflation is already squeezing working-class families, Elon Musk—the world’s richest man—appears eager to tighten the noose on America’s most vulnerable: poor children. Backed by Trump-era ideologues, Musk is championing devastating cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and school meal programs, threatening the food security of millions of children.

SNAP supports 1 in 5 American children, lifting over a million of them out of poverty last year alone. But under the ruse of cutting “waste, fraud and abuse,” Musk is pushing a cruel plan to slash federal funding, passing the burden to states. The result? Many states won’t be able to fill the funding gap, leading to fewer families getting help—or eliminating SNAP entirely. That’s not fiscal responsibility - it’s calculated child abuse.

School meals, a lifeline for children in low-income communities, are next on the chopping block. Musk-backed Republicans want to raise the eligibility threshold for free meal programs under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which could kick over 12 million kids out of the program. Families would face higher grocery bills. Hungry children would be left to struggle through their school days.

All this, while Musk tweets memes about Dogecoin from a luxury jet.

Let’s be clear: these aren’t just policy tweaks. They’re acts of systemic harm - led by a billionaire who treats social safety nets as expendable. In the richest nation on Earth, no child should starve. And no billionaire should dictate who eats and who doesn’t.
