Trump Tax Cut Gives Trillions to Just 902 People: The Real Cost of the House GOP Budget

While millions of American families brace for devastating cuts to health care and food assistance, 902 ultra-wealthy individuals are set to walk away with trillions. The new House Republican budget proposal reads like a wish list for the rich—massive tax breaks for the top 0.1%, paid for by slashing lifelines for the most vulnerable among us.

At the center of this cruel plan are historic cuts to Medicaid and SNAP. Over $600 billion would be gutted from Medicaid, threatening health coverage for more than 8 million people—including children, seniors, and low-income workers. SNAP, which helps feed 1 in 8 Americans, would see nearly $300 billion in cuts, stripping food from hungry kids and forcing states to pick up the tab during economic downturns.

These aren’t minor trims—they’re the largest cuts to both programs in U.S. history. And they’re not about fraud or efficiency. They’re about making room for even more tax cuts for the rich.

The Trump-era tax law already handed $2.2 trillion to the wealthiest Americans—just 902 people. Now, House Republicans want to double down, expanding those giveaways while adding more than $4 trillion to the national deficit.

This isn’t fiscal responsibility. This bill represents the most significant wealth transfer in modern U.S. history – from low-income and middle-class Americans to Trump’s billionaire cronies. It will inflict lasting damage on millions of American families, worsening health, hunger, and inequality—all while failing to offer meaningful economic or fiscal benefits.

These cuts must be stopped to preserve the dignity, health, and well-being of everyday Americans.
