Speaking to Christina Nationalists, Trump said “In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.”[1] Three days later Trump doubled down and told Laura Ingraham that “I’ll straighten out the country, you won’t have to vote anymore.”[2],[3]
These are the words of a weird old man, a convicted felon, pretending that he can be a strong man like Viktor Orban, Vladimir Putin, or Kin Jung Un.
But we must take Trump at his word. What he says is not a joke as suggested by Republican Senator Tom Cotton.[4] At no time during the Ingraham interview did Trump say he was kidding.[5]
Republicans have already begun their efforts to undermine the integrity of the 2024 election with numerous and legally frivolous lawsuits (some have already been thrown out).[6]
Trump loyalists, election deniers, are now election officials in swing states. At least 22 of them have already refused or delayed certification in recent years, indicating likely chaos in November.[7]
Is Trump a threat to democracy? Yes. Trump intends to entrench the MAGA movement so deeply and to so thoroughly undermine confidence in elections that voting will be an obsolete notion.
Trump’s plans for a second term include retribution against perceived enemies, create a spoils system for Trump loyalists, squelching the independence of the DOJ, abolishing protections for those with pre-existing conditions, undermining voting rights, mass deportations – the list goes on.[8]
Trump means it when he says “In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.”
We cannot allow institutionalized Trumpism to consume our fragile democracy.

Trump is concern because of what happen in the last election, that’s all. He knows certain Christian groups don’t vote very often. So he’s asking them to vote because he needs a big win. “Too Big to Rig, like he says. If he wins, “fixing it” means that he will make sure no candidate can ever cheat. Most likely he’ll have paper ballots, not a computer tabulating system, that can be messed with. Don’t make it out like he’s trying to cheat or ruin our democracy, because he’s trying to fix the democracy so it’s completely fair!
