A Modest Proposal for Deportation: Start with Immigrant MAGA Billionaires

mjpardus

In the world of Donald Trump, immigrants are often portrayed as a threat to the American dream. Whether it’s through the "MAGA" lens or his proposed mass deportations, the narrative is always the same: immigrants are the problem. But what if the real issue isn't the undocumented workers in the fields or on construction sites, but the immigrant billionaires who profit off American labor?

According to Forbes, 128 of America's 735 billionaires are immigrants, collectively worth more than $800 billion. Some, like Tope Awotona, an entrepreneur born in Nigeria who rose from poverty, embody the "American dream" in its truest form.

Others, however, are part of a much darker reality. Elon Musk exemplifies the global elite that Trump himself often rails against — yet Musk’s influence has little to do with protecting American workers or preserving our democratic institutions. These immigrant billionaires, much like Trump himself, value power above all else — often at the expense of the so-called "forgotten man."

Trump’s rhetoric has long blamed immigrants for everything from job loss to the supposed decline of American wages. But the reality is that the immigrant billionaires who fund his political machine are far more responsible for these issues.

They exploit H-1B visa programs to import cheap tech labor, suppress wages, and dominate industries, all while reaping the benefits of America's hard work and resources. So, perhaps it’s time to consider a different kind of deportation.

Instead of focusing on deporting the 11 million undocumented immigrants Trump has targeted, why not start with his fellow immigrant billionaires? Deportation could be swift and cost-effective.

No expensive ICE raids, no families separated — just a phone call from Trump to the likes of Musk, who can hop on a private jet and return to one of his many homes abroad. These billionaires are already citizens of the world; they don't need to stay in the U.S. to make their fortunes.

Moreover, it’s much cheaper than Trump’s massive $1 trillion plan for mass deportations. The cost of sending these billionaires packing? Virtually nothing, saving the taxpayers billions while removing the real culprits — those who exploit American workers and undermine our democratic values.

But of course, this is all satire, a jab at the absurdity of Trump’s policies. Deporting billionaires won’t happen.

But Trump's plan to target the most vulnerable is a dangerous reality. As we enter the era of Trump 2.0, it's crucial to remember the true cost of his rhetoric: not just in dollars, but in human lives.
